Oreste

I’m interested in ancient history, myth and archaeology since I was a child. I studied Late Antique Archaeology and travelled all around Italy.

Finally, I preferred to return home and I re-oriented my career in tourism planning and promotion, fundraising, cultural and environmental management, but archaeology is still my passion and I really enjoy guiding foreign travellers through the uncovered places of my island, showing them all of their secrets.

I love travelling, visiting many different places, and meeting many people and several cultures from the inside-out. If you’ll come with me, I will share my passion and knowledge with you, and you’ll see my own land through my eyes.

The best introduction to Ortigia and Siracusa
Oreste's introduction to the archaeological park and old town features was the most lucid and enjoyable possible, even in very hot weather. I can wholeheartedly recommend an uncoveredsicily walk at the start of anyone's Sicily adventure, and again as you travel on.

Discovering Taormina
Oreste was fantastic! We had a great tour with him, it was the perfect thing to start our stay in Taormina. We learned a lot, and he was great.

A great day for our family with Oreste in Siracusa
Just a quick note to say with all sincerity how terrific a service UncoveredSicily is. Setting up our family trip with them was incredibly easy, and they were always quick to respond. My family of 9 spent a half day with Oreste starting at the Archaeological Park and then heading to Ortygia. We were late in getting there and felt bad about it, however he quickly made us realize it was no big deal, and we received the full 4 hours that we paid for anyway. He was truly informative, passionate about history and left us all feeling educated and excited to be there. He was also quite patient with us and our children which is never an easy thing to be on a very hot summer day. Should you choose to use Uncovered Sicily as your guide while on vacation, I highly recommend requesting him as your guide.

CAME AS STRANGERS, LEFT AS FRIENDS
He took us on a walking tour of Catania and through the fish market. You must go to the secret place underneath the bar. Don’t want to give too many secrets away as you just have to go with Oreste. He also treated us to the local drink specialty of Frullati Bibite Gelati. The next day we ran into Oreste in Ortygia and it was like running into a good friend. Thank you Oreste!!!

3 day tour/Ortygia, Noto, Taormina, Castelmola & Naxos Ancient Ruins
This was a family trip of seven with my Mums, and brother and sister and spouses. Sicily was new two us and the history fascinates us. We enjoyed two guides ---- Daniela & Oreste. Absolutely tops! Both extremely knowledgeable and fluent in English.

Amazing visit in Taormina with Oreste: absolutely recommended!
We visited the city and the ancient theatre of Taormina with Oreste on 08 August 2022. Oreste has a solid education in archeology and he gave us so many interesting information on the venue, the city, the history and what not. He was available and attentive to our questions or remarks. Absolutely recommended and thank you again Oreste for the great experience even during high season.
