Art and Archaeology in the beautiful Halaesa Valley

There are many cities in Sicily, O judges, of great splendour and of high reputation, and among the very first of these is the city of Halesa.

Marcus Tullius Cicero, In Verrem, II, 3,170

Halaesa Valley, which is an important way to the inside of the Nebrodi, has always been a borderline place between Messina and Palermo counties on the one hand, and the Nebrodi and the Madonie on the other hand. This is a place with a striking melting of sea and mountains, of ancient and contemporary elements, of art and nature.

We will start our cultural tour from the Archaeological Park of Halaesa, which is a town that was founded by Greeks in the 4th century BC, to go up the river Tusa among medieval hamlets and open contemporary works of art among the panoramic Sicilian landscape. A symbiotic relationship between Art and Nature is visible from Fiumara d’Arte, which is a contemporary art landscape and one of the most renowned and extravagant examples of Land Art in Italy.
