Archaeological area of Palikè, Hermitage of Santa Febronia and Caves of Caratabia

A unique opportunity to visit the heart of Sicily and get in touch with its ancient history. Unknown places and hidden sites, usually inaccessible, will tell you the origins of our land. Ancient myths, revealed history, breath-taking nature will enrich our cultural journey of strong emotions.

Our private day tour will start with the archaeological site of Rocchicella, where the remains of the city of Palikè tell about the relationship between Sicilians and Greeks and the epic of Ducezio. A place where modern industrial society finally swallowed up the myth. Then we will discover the “Crags of Santa Febronia”, an extraordinary marriage of archeology, nature and faith, following the tradition of the patron saint of Palagonia.

We'll then head to the remains of the little Basilica of San Giovanni that, surrounded by the citrus groves of the Catania valley and the so-called "Pozzo Blandini", rare evidences of the local peasant culture and cultivation techniques, no longer existing. And last but not least, we'll visit the Caves of Caratabia, keepers of ancient graffiti with a mysterious meaning.
