Neapolis Archaeological Park, Catacombs of San Giovanni and Ortigia

This private guided tour of Syracuse allows you to uncover the history and archaeology of this Sicilian city starting from its Greek roots in the Neapolis Park, where we will be astonished by the Greek theater, the latomies (ancient quarries), the altar of Hieron II, and the Roman Amphitheater.

The archaeological itinerary will then continue at the Catacombs of San Giovanni, the biggest complex of its kind in Sicily, an important historical testimony of the Christians, of their rites and their effect on the society.

Finally, we will end this day tour on the island of Ortygia, core of the ancient city, where exceptional Greek, Roman, and Late Antique monuments are concealed among the Medieval and Baroque buildings but also under its beautiful paved streets.
