The upside down hill. Cava Misericordia trekking tour

Exciting private walking tour from the Hyblean plateau to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ragusa Ibla. We will go deep into the “Cava Misericordia” gorge, discovering the “little Hyblean continent” including botanical rarities and extraordinary living creatures. Legends, mysteries and signs of human presence over the centuries will accompany us along the way. We will leave the infinite, intricate work of the dry stone walls of the plateau to descend the ancient mule path that leads to the bottom of the canyon. A colourful, fragrant and lush Mediterranean vegetation will gladden us. After leaving the “ciaramite” stream, that springs from a mysterious chasm, we will reach the “Giant’s Cave”, an easily accessible, captivating grotto where a famous giant guards a “truvatura” (hidden treasure). At a short distance from the cave is the ancient restored monastery of “Misericordia”. Here we will listen to the wrongdoings of the not so pious monks who lived here in the 18th century. Then we will walk along the historical water mills route, at the end of which a stunning view of Ragusa Ibla awaits us.
