Forza d’Agrò, which is one of the most distinguishing villages of the Ionian coast of Messina, is a small medieval hamlet. It is deep in a calm atmosphere which is dominated by the majestic bulk of a Norman Castle. It is like an open museum that holds an extraordinary historical-artistic heritage: the fifteenth-century SS. Annunziata’s Cathedral, the beautiful Trinity Church with its Durazzo Arch, and the numerous eighteenth-century noble dwellings. Afterwards, we will reach the site of San’Alessio Siculo that is renowned thanks to the amazing beauty of its promontory which is dominated by a huge Saracenic castle. "Quartiere di Mezzo", moreover, is a charming area of the village. It is the most ancient settlement with houses that were built in the seventeenth century. There are still some legends concerning what are commonly called “truvature”, namely priceless treasures that were hidden by the pirates who used to pass by this Sicilian coast.
