Between history and nature: Calatabiano and Alcantara Gorges

This private guided tour will start from Calatabiano, an ancient center of Arab origin characterized by a castle on a rugged hill, that preserves interesting traces of the Norman, Swabian and Aragonese development. The town is located downstream of the Castle, and it is worth visiting the 15th-century church of Santissimo Crocifisso.

A short stop at Linguaglossa will allow us to admire the 17th-century church of San Francesco of Paola. From Linguaglossa we will then reach the Alcantara Gorges, a unique spectacle in the world: it is a canyon originated from cooling phenomena of ancient lava flows crossed by the icy waters of the Alcantara River.
