A tour in the realm of Black Pig of Nebrodi Mountains

The Nebrodi National Park is the largest protected area in Sicily, that is also known as the green lung of Sicily. It is a hidden treasure transforming itself with every change of season.

In Sinagra, a small town nestled about 300 meters up in the Nebrodi Mountains, lies the home of a special native pig breed: the Black Pig (Suino Nero). From this breed come the salamis and hams that are the pride of the Messina pork butchery tradition. Black pig meat is protected by the “Slow Food Presidium”. That’s why a visit to this family-run farm inside Nebrodi Park is an absolute must! You'll get a firsthand look at the pigs roaming freely through the woods - a vital element for their natural, healthy growth and the exceptional quality of the meat.

After visiting the farm in the woods, we’ll head to the family estate to enjoy a delicious lunch featuring exceptionally good artisanal cured meats, including prosciutto crudo, lardo, fresh sausage, and the ever-present salami, along with other local culinary delights such traditional wood-fired bread and fresh Montalbano provola cheese.

It’s a truly unique experience to share with US!
