Through the Pages of an Ancient Family Cookbook

A cooking class to discover the secrets of Sicilian noble cuisine through an old family cookbook passed down from generation to generation - slightly yellowed with time, yet perfectly intact. This precious 150-year-old manuscript is a treasure that tells the story of an aristocratic family from Palermo through the recipes of the “Monsù” - the French chefs who served the nobility of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

We will tell you the story of a large family where food represents unity and strength. Even today, memories remain of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in which there were never fewer than twenty-four guests, and where hospitality was elevated to an art form. The cookbook preserves several versions of the same dish, written down and shared over time among cousins, sisters, mothers, grandmothers, and friends.

Inside the family’s historic estate, nestled in the famous “Conca d’Oro” at the foot of Mount Grifone, we will take a journey through the flavors and traditions of Sicilian aristocratic cooking. Together with the homeowner, you will prepare two recipes found in the old cookbook, one savory and one sweet. We will follow its detailed advice and enjoy other dishes that will accompany your lunch, all within an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
