The altitude of the Madonie Mountains, their past isolation and the use of locally sourced ingredients have developed a culinary tradition somewhat different from coastal Sicily.
Our private food tour will start with a visit and a cheese tasting in an excellent organic dairy farm, where you will assist in the production of the traditional "toma" or the "provola" delle Madonie cheeses, and discover the amazing art of the southern Italian stretched curd cheeses.
Later we will visit Castelbuono with its mighty 14th-century castle, its vibrant cobbled streets and squares, and its golden stone historical buildings. Here we will go into the workshop of a bakery to experience the traditional biscuits and pastries, a production that makes Castelbuono a gourmet destination in Sicily.
