Lipari is well known for its breathtaking views, the crystal-clear sea, and the rich historical and archaeological heritage left by its inhabitants since Neolithic times. Yet, few people know that the surrounding hills are dotted with numerous small family farms, that maintain a long Aeolian rural tradition.
Our walk will take us to one of these traditional farms. The trail rises through a breathtaking landscape of volcanic domes, rugged cliffs, and vineyards set in ancient craters.
Once at the farm, the owners will guide us as we take part in their daily activities. We will feed the family of donkeys and hens, collect fresh eggs of the day, and harvest fresh ingredients from the garden for an unforgettable family lunch. Then, we will cook and eat together, enjoying the outstanding view that only the Aeolian Islands can offer.
Having said goodbye to the hosts after a coffee, we will stroll down to the village for an ice-cream or a “granita” in the splendid Marina Corta square. Finally, we will take a short walk through the alleys of the historic center.
